Bring that festive feeling to your condo with these tricks
The holidays are that special time of year when the place you live in truly becomes a home; friends and family gather to celebrate and your condo is filled with the smells, sights and sounds of the season. As kids we counted down the days – the holiday season couldn’t come soon enough. But as adults we’re often left wondering if we’ll have enough time to get everything done. But don’t fret! Here are a few tips and tricks for a less-hectic holiday.
Light up your space and lighten your workload
Scrambling to get your condo ready for company and don’t have time to give it the once over it deserves? Simply dim the lights and add your own. Twinkling lights and flickering candles add a dramatic flair to your holiday décor, and the dimmed lights cover up the dusting and vacuuming you didn’t get a chance to get to. Scented candles can also add a seasonal scent. Just be sure to keep an eye on any candles (battery-powered, flameless candles are available at many home stores).
Make scents
There’s nothing better than the smell of a fresh-cut fir tree or cookies baking in the oven. But if you don’t have time to bake or the space to get a real tree you can still enjoy the aromas. Health stores carry a variety of essential oils in every scent imaginable. Add a few drops of fir tree oil to your lightbulbs for that fresh-cut fragrance. Or simmer some vanilla, cinnamon and apple slices in water on the stovetop for 15-20 minutes for that just-baked smell (just be sure to have store-bought snacks on hand when guests go looking for the snackable source of the scent).
Play(list) on
Holiday music doesn’t have to be hard. Streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify have curated playlists in a variety of genres to match any get together. Simply click, shuffle and let it play.
These are just a few tips to free up some time and take the stress out of holiday entertaining. And the more time you can free up for friends and family, the better. After all, that’s really what this time of year is about.
Happy Holidays from everyone at Kodiak Property Management!
